Hi Grady, Thanks for your feedback and I completely agree with you regarding point 1. I’ve seen parents who start behaving completely in a different way and start giving unneeded independence to their kids just to show themselves in a good way

That first point is just as true for the “non-custodial” parent as it is for the one with custody — probably even more so! The parent that only has their child on the weekends may feel guilty and so will aim to be liked. The problem with this is that the child will take advantage of the lack of boundaries. If I’ve learned anything from being a parent myself as well as watching my brother-in-law go through being a part time parent it’s that the earlier you fight most challenges, the easier and better off things are in the long run. (My last is true even if both parents are still present, too!)

If I was to stick with a favourite toy of my sons or movie we would be forever changing his room – he picks up favourites really quickly. I am sure though it would be super fun to keep changing it up depending on his interests
